Amplicity raises $1M seed round to turn idle backup batteries into revenue-generating energy assets
$1M seed led by strategic angels with continued backing from ENGIE - funding first commercial deployments in Singapore and Australia.

Amplicity has closed a $1M USD seed funding round led by strategic angel investors, with continued backing from energy major ENGIE. The capital will fund commercial deployments in Singapore and Australia, two markets facing rising energy costs and increasing grid volatility.
The company targets a structural inefficiency in industrial energy: backup batteries - including UPS infrastructure protecting data centres and factories - sit idle more than 99% of the time. Amplicity's control layer turns these assets into dual-purpose systems that reduce on-site electricity costs through peak management and generate recurring revenue by participating in energy markets, all without compromising backup readiness.
The platform delivers four outcomes: lower electricity costs, predictable energy market revenue, verifiable Scope 2 emissions reduction, and real-time auditable performance. Operations stay within site-approved parameters, so there is zero operational disruption.
"Backup energy systems like UPS have been treated as passive insurance: essential but unproductive," said CEO Stéphane Leyo. ENGIE's continued presence on the cap table provides technical and commercial validation for scaling active battery management across industrial and data centre environments.
